Many Roads

There are many roads in life we can take.
We can take the High Road, or the Detour.
I choose the High Road.
I choose to not fight, and to tell my friends just to be happy for me for finding a boy that actually CARES about me.
They just don't understand.
That phrase "Hoes over Bros."
That's how it's supposed to be.

-And then there's the New Begginings Road.
Currenty, this road holds, my cousin and her brand new baby girl(of whom which I will finally get to see tomorrow, yay!), and, Granny(Who is taking a long road trip with a friend, in miles of travel)

Memories

Just thought of this on the bus this morning. Things I remember vaguely from my childhood memories.

1. Whenever you used to go to the doctor, they'd give you these things.

2. Battleball was not a violent sport, it just resulted in poor-losers.

3. These two bands were VERY popular.

and

4. These things were really gross.

5. All the "Big Kids" brought you awes of wonder.

Peanut Butter

Sooooo...I'm just wondering.

Is everyone but GS and I on Blog-Strike over something?

To the post!

FUN FACTS ABOUT PEANUT BUTTER!

Mmm...one of the best foods you will find!

--Mr. Kellogg (who became famous because of his cereals) actually patented the first peanut butter process?

--peanuts are actually legumes, not nuts, and they originated from Brazil, and that even the Incas appreciated the delicious taste of peanut butter many centuries before us!

--the most unique property of peanut butter, though, is its high content in Resveratrol, a substance that's been shown to have very strong anti-cancer properties.

--Americans eat about 3 pounds of peanut butter per person each year, totaling about 500 million pounds...

--Two peanut farmers have been elected president of the United States: Thomas Jefferson and Jimmy Carter.

-- "Arachibutyrophobia" (pronounced I-RA-KID-BU-TI-RO-PHO-BI-A) is the fear of peanut butter getting stuck to the roof of your mouth.

-- It takes almost 850 peanuts to make an 18 oz jar of peanut butter!

Interesting, isn't it?

Good recipe I found, and would like to share.

Marbled Peanut Butter Brownies
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 scant teaspoon salt

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup (generous) peanut butter

1 cup light brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

Chocolate Swirl: 2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Topping: ½ cup peanut butter (creamy)

½ teaspoon vanilla

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Chocolate Swirl: 1 ½ to 2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate – one that melts nicely, if possible (Dove)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Line an 8 inch square metal pan with parchment or better yet, Release foil.
Thoroughly stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, beat together butter, peanut butter and both sugars. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture, stir until incorporated, then spread in pan.
Prepare chocolate swirl. Using microwave or double boiler, melt chocolate and butter. Drop by spoonfuls on top of peanut butter batter and drag a knife through the batter to marble.
Bake on center rack for 30-35 minutes or until edges appear brown and center appears set. I baked mine for 30 to avoid over-baking. Remove from oven and cool on a rack.
Meanwhile, prepare topping. Stir together peanut butter, vanilla and melted butter. Spread this mixture over the warm (not piping hot, not cool) brownies. Let cool completely.
Prepare Chocolate Swirl. Put chocolate in a heavy duty freezer bag. Microwave the bag for 30 seconds. Knead it with your hands to melt chocolate. Repeat, microwaving another 30 seconds and kneading bag, until chocolate is completely melted. Make sure there are no lumps. Snip a tiny hole in bottom corner of bag and drizzle chocolate decoratively over peanut butter.
At this point, it’s a good idea to chill the brownies to set the peanut butter and chocolate. I actually froze mine for about 20 minutes, then moved them to the refrigerator. The point, again, is to set the topping so you can slice the brownies nicely.
When cold and set, lift from pan and slice brownies in to squares or bars.
Makes 1 8 inch pan

May You Rest

In Peace.

As we know, Yesterday, Patrick Swayze died.
So, Here he will have a dedication, just because he was a lovely actor!

Patrick Swayze was born on August 18, 1952 in Houston, Texas, the second child of Patricia "Patsy" Yvonne Helen (née Karnes; b. 1927), a choreographer, dance instructor, and dancer, and Jesse Wayne Swayze (1925–1982), an engineering draftsman. In 1972, he moved to New York City to complete his formal dance training at the Harkness Ballet and Joffrey ballet schools

Swayze was married to Lisa Niemi from June 12, 1975 until his death. The couple first met in 1970 when Swayze was 18 years old. Niemi, 14 years old at the time, was taking dance lessons from Swayze's mother. Swayze and Niemi had no children.

As a reaction to his father's death at age 57 from a heart attack in 1982, Swayze began to drink heavily. His sister Vicky committed suicide by overdose in 1994, leading him to seek treatment for alcoholism. After initial recovery, he temporarily withdrew from show business, retreating to his ranches in California and Las Vegas, New Mexico, to breed Arabian horses. His best-known horse was Tammen, a chestnut Arabian stallion.

Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late January 2008, and underwent chemotherapy and other treatments at the Stanford University Medical Center. On March 5, 2008, a Reuters article reported that Swayze "has a very limited amount of disease, and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far".Swayze's doctor confirmed that the actor was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but insisted he was not as close to death as reports suggest. Specifically, Swayze was diagnosed with a type of pancreatic tumor called intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm.

Swayze's publicist, Annett Wolf, confirmed to CNN that he had died of pancreatic cancer. Swayze died "with family at his side" on September 14, 2009, at age 57, twenty months after being diagnosed.

Thoughts

WARNING: this post deals with rights of judgement of Religion, Race, and Sexuality. If you are not comfortable reading this material, I advise that you navigate away from this page until the next post.

&

I've just been thinking lately, about every one's different views on things, like racism, and gay rights, and I really don't see what the big deal is! I mean, yes, I am a Christian, but I don't see anywhere in the Bible, where it says, to judge someone on the way that they want to live their lives. Everyone SHOULD be able to live their lives in peace, without being judged on their actions, it's not right, for us, or anyone but God to do! And even religion! There are people out there who don't believe in the same God as we might, but that doesn't give us the right to try to change their beliefs, that is their decision!

Look at the people, that are slash, they are some of the nicest people that you will ever meet! And we can't rule them out of Heaven, just like we can't rule race out of Heaven.

To some of you, this might bother you, but it is a very strong topic with me: I know quite a few male homosexuals, and also quite a few female homosexuals, and they would do anything for you if you asked them to!

I will admit, there are times where I judge someone, as does anyone, no matter what they say, but I'm trying to not do so. At first, I didn't like Obama, not because of his race, but because of his views, and back-ground, but now, after one of the video's below, he is a good President! No one should feel judged, in any one's eyes.

I found a few quotes, and 2 videos that I would like to share, if you are willing.

:::::::Marian Wright Edelman:
If you as parents cut corners, your children will too. If you lie, they will too. If you spend all your money on yourselves and tithe no portion of it for charities, colleges, churches, synagogues, and civic causes, your children won't either. And if parents snicker at racial and gender jokes, another generation will pass on the poison adults still have not had the courage to snuff out.

Robert F. Kennedy:
But suppose God is black? What if we go to Heaven and we, all our lives, have treated the Negro as an inferior, and God is there, and we look up and He is not white? What then is our response?

Elie Wiesel:
The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.

Wednesday Wish

Alright, so...as we all know, today is the release(long, and waited) of BEATLES ROCK BAND!

I think, this is the greatest game ever invented. Ever!

Of course, there's going to be a few things about my favorite, and the best band that ever was. Here goes:::

In July of 1957, John met Paul. Paul invited George to watch, and he agreed and joined the band in 1958. They acquired a drummer, named Colin Hanton, but he left, and they soon picked up( after many other replacements) in 1962, a lovely man who was great with drumsticks named, Richard Starkey(Ringo Starr) they later went on to record many AMAZING songs that filled the ears of the nation, and left millions of girls in tears and wails of happiness and delight. And, on April 10, 1970....the Beatles departed.
There as, the Wednesday Wish
Truly, I wish the Beatles were back together, making much much more music for us to love and sing along to, but seeing as the departures of John and George, leaving this world, this will never be. We can only sit back, and enjoy the vinyl.

Autumn

Now, It is officially Fall!

Generation Swap's favorite time of the year.

You have to admit, it is beautiful, the leaves changing, it not be 100 degrees outside and such. You get to wear long sleeves and eat pumpkins, and squash.

You get Halloween, where you get to dress up and watch the little children in their costumes, searching for sweets and looking adorable... and Thanksgiving, when you can give thanks to the Indians and Pilgrims and your family for all the awesome food(*cough*...tofurky...) which later morphs into my favorite holidays, Christmas and New Years!

Oh, just how wonderful of a world we live in (nature wise anyways.)

Enjoy!

The story of Labor Day

The first Labor Day in the United States was celebrated on September 5, 1882 in New York City.

[1] In the aftermath of the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the US military and US Marshals during the 1894 Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland put reconciliation with Labor as a top political priority. Fearing further conflict, legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was rushed through Congress unanimously and signed into law a mere six days after the end of the strike.

[2] Cleveland was also concerned that aligning a US labor holiday with existing international May Day celebrations would stir up negative emotions linked to the Haymarket Affair.

[3] All 50 U.S. states have made Labor Day a state holiday.

Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer.

The holiday is often regarded as a day of rest and parades.

Fudge Fiends

You have to love it, whether it be in milk, or dark, or white, thought I would share these funnies I found out about this addictive dessert.

................

........

....

..

.

-Where does chocolate come from? Actually, it DOES grow on trees. It all starts with a small tropical tree, the Theobroma cacao, usually called simply, "cacao." (Pronounced ka-KOW. Theobroma is Greek for "food of the gods.") Cacao is native to Central and South America, but it is grown commercially throughout the tropics. About 70% of the world's cacao is grown in Africa.

-In the 17Th Century, the first recorded case of “Death by Chocolate” occurred.

-Although chocolate is not an aphrodisiac, it contains phenylethylamine(PEA), a natural substance that is reputed to state the same reaction in the body as falling in love. Hence, heartbreak and loneliness are reasons for over-indulgence of this sweet treat.

-Chocolate syrup was used for blood in the 45 second shower scene in "Psycho" by Alfred Hitchcock.

-Chocolate can be lethal to dogs.

-It has over 500 flavour components!

-Chocolate has great health benefits. It helps with depression, high blood pressure, Tumors and Pre-menstrual syndromes.

-Milk Chocolate is the most preferred type of chocolate, however dark chocolate is especially popular among men.

And last of all, and probably the nastiest.....

--The average chocolate bar has 8 insect legs in it. They just get in through the process of making the chocolate.

(Actually, this IS a myth, I just found it, and thought I would share.)

You know it!

Or you'd have to, because it is now officially Septempre! That means?

Fall is near! You can walk outside and feel it getting cooler, time to crack out the pull-overs!

As newly promised, there will be some fun facts about September, following this short post.

Read ON:

Gemstone: Sapphire

The name September comes from the old Roman word 'septem', which means seven, because in the Roman calendar it was the seventh month. The Anglo-Saxons called it Gerst monath (Barley month), because it was their time when they harvested barley to be made into their favourite drink - barley brew. They also called it Haefest monath, or Harvest month.
The Romans believed that the month of September was looked after by the god, Vulcan. As the god of the fire and forge they therefore expected September to be associated with fires, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.

At the Harvest Festivals in September, people made Corn Dollies. Down here.....
